Week 9 Reading and Writing

For this weeks reading and writing task, I had to look back at my readings and writings from week 1 to week 8 and see how my experience has been going.  I feel like the readings and writings have became more enjoyable as the weeks went on.

1.

I feel like the readings and writings are working great for me. At the start of the weeks, I thought that I would not enjoy them to the extent that I do now. I especially thought that the readings were going to be boring and that I would not enjoy them but they have proved me wrong.

My favourite reading was from week 4, it was called "what are game elements?'. I enjoyed this reading the most because I feel like I learnt and gained a lot from that reading and benefited towards me making my own game. I feel like the readings overall have helped me towards my game as they give me a much better understanding on what has to go into game designing and development. I don't think I would have as much knowledge about games if it wasn't for the readings at the start of each week. I have learnt a lot about summarising readings. I used to read every single word in articles but I have now know that I do not have to read everything but I just need to know where and what the main headings and points are in the articles. My blogs about the readings have also became more and more clear as I realise what the main headings are and the correct context to add into my blogs from the headings.

So far I am happy enough with my game project, I like the idea of the game being about football and also the fact that it is for a younger audience as I feel like most people are making their games for older audience which is fine but I wanted to make a game for a younger audience. Unity has been hard to get used to but with the great tutorials on youtube they have helped me so much and know I will make a good game and hopefully people enjoy playing it. The tutorials at the start , were hard enough to follow and felt myself taking a big period of my time dedicated to completing the tutorials. Unity can be difficult to use and it takes a while to get the hang of. My favourite tutorial that I have worked on was the clock one. I felt like this was my favourite one because it was the easiest to follow as I found it easier to follow the text instructions instead of the video ones because I did not like changing from youtube to Unity, instead I could take pictures of the text instructions on my phone and then keep my phone open with the instructions and then just keep my laptop on the Unity page. I find Unity interesting and have felt myself become more and more comfortable with using it as the weeks go on.

My biggest accomplishment for this class would probably be how much I surprised, going into the module I did not think I would enjoy it as much as I did, and also felt that I would not do  as good as I have done. One of my favourite thing about this module has been how my layout of my blogs have grown. I feel like my blogs are easily readable and the headings in different colours make it easier for the reader to know what they are reading about. Overall, the readings have been great as I have benefited and also learnt a lot from them and for that I am great-full. I was not a big reader before the module but I can see myself reading more as they give you valuable information and are also excellent for your brain and learning more. The Unity work is also great and I find it extremely interesting to see what goes into making a game, I underestimated how much effort and time go into making a game. In conclusion, I have really enjoyed the readings and writings and also I have loved blogging about them.

What I need to do to get more out of my readings and writings experience is to do more extra credit tasks and get comfortable with them as they will benefit me. Also , I need to stay on track of everything and to not slack off towards and during  December time. Other than that I think I just need to keep up the work and keep putting in the same effort if not more effort.
